Reem Acra is the revolutionary designer known for her impeccably beaded wedding gowns. Acra studied in both New York and Paris after being discovered by a fashion editor at the University of Beirut. She launched her namesake line to raving reviews in 1997 making her a powerful force in the bridal industry.
She has since expanded into the ready-to-wear market, a line that echoes her attention to detail. Her beautiful embroidery is a testament to her talent and reminiscent of the colorful saris of the Middle East.
Her Spring 2016 bridal collection doesn’t disappoint. It includes shapely mermaid gowns accented by lace and beadwork. She also features some ballroom gown styles but chose to go a more daring route, adding elaborate figure-hugging bodices.
The wonderful thing about Acra’s dresses is that the lacework is so expertly done the fabric “tattoos” to the bride’s skin. This is what sets her apart from other designers. She knows how to tailor the garment so the bride is the shining star and not the dress. Which is the true gift of an artist.
