Today’s idea of romance is not clear-cut one way style. When I think of romance I think of a beautiful, lush garden. It’s a classic image, but in Atlanta, set against the backdrop of the skyline, it becomes more contemporary in our minds. That contrast created naturally by having the Atlanta Botanical Gardens in the middle of the urban environment was what inspired this tablescape, creating a romantic “Garden Glam” look based on juxtaposing components, styles and colors. From the vintage settee set across from the contemporary ghost chairs(connected by common pillows used on both; to the classic and rich velvet runner puddling on the garden ground and placed on the garden style farm table; to the juxtaposition of the contemporary acrylic die-cut menu and place cards with the beautiful classic gold tableware. Even the flowers chosen for this table were done so with this contrast in mind by mixing the classic and soft garden roses with some ¬†funkier Dahlias and Japanese Pieries, and contrasting the soft blush color with pops of Burgundy. And, to complete this look, we juxtaposed vases and styles by color blocking some classically shaped floral arrangements in mercury glass compotes and contrasting those with the mercury glass candle holders inside a clear cylinder vase with a contemporary pomander sitting on top.
