Ornate necklines are nothing new for designer wedding gowns, but a growing trend of illusion necklines are the hottest thing for this coming spring. Designers like Monique Lhuillier and Oscar De La Renta have embraced these faux necklines to make elegant bridal looks that are timeless. Marchesa (below) created one-of-a-kind looks with a illusion capped sleeve and long sleeve gowns. The high necklines on each make for a classic, chic look–while also keeping in mind a breathable, lightweight neckline.

Monique Lhuillier has two fully developed illusion pieces in her line for the upcoming season. Unlike Marchesa, these illusion necklines are extremely ornate, with intricate details in embroidered in each piece. From scalloped lace to a capped designed sleeve–these are definitely gowns to look out for.

The illusion neckline in its simplest form is seen in Oscar De La Renta’s rendition. Two looks exemplify the simple and intricate. The first is a minimalist capped sleeve, which has laser cut detailing and the second is a heavily embroidered long illusion sleeve.
